As an independent, family-owned company, we have been developing tailor-made door-to-door solutions for vehicle logistics for over 50 years – supported by an infrastructure of rail, road, seaport terminals and logistics platforms that is unique in Europe. We combine this operational strength and reliability with an uncompromising commitment to sustainability – our “WAY TO ZERO” – to make mobility efficient today and climate-friendly tomorrow.
Competence
50 years in the finished automotive logistics with a constant focus to the customer needs and operational excellence allowed ARS to invest and develop a unique logistic infrastructure able to provide “door to door” tailored solutions from the massive volumes of manufacturing plants and ports to the last mile deliveries to dealers and final customers.
Family business
Our special business approach is geared towards a long-term perspective and provides for a high level of commitment to customers and partners. The philosophy of vertical integration through direct investment is aimed at expanding our portfolio of logistics solutions and tailoring them directly to the needs of our customers.
Consistency
Our work is based on consistency. A fleet of over 4,000 rail wagons specially developed for vehicle transportation contributes to this. In addition, we have a European network of 23 sites specializing in vehicle storage and processing with a total area of over 5 million square meters, including a newly established network of two sea terminals in Mediterranean ports and a specialized last-mile distribution truck fleet of 850 units. All this gives us the necessary capacity to cope with both long-term developments and unexpected disruptions in the automotive business and to adapt accordingly.
WAY TO ZERO
Sustainability is not an empty promise for ARS Altmann AG, but an essential and authentic goal. On the one hand, we are pursuing it by shifting long and medium-distance logistics to rail as far as possible. On the other hand, we are continuously implementing and expanding photovoltaic areas at our warehouse locations throughout Europe as well as an optimized network for regional distribution with a mix of combustion engines, alternative fuels and electric trucks.

History
50 years of ARS Altmann AG - A look back
1975
Company foundation
Foundation of Altmann KG in Munich by Helmut Altmann. Helmut Altmann founds Altmann KG in Munich, laying the foundations for an impressive success story. In 1984, the company moved its headquarters to Wolnzach and continued to develop in the Hallertau region. The premises at our headquarters now cover 320,000 square meters.
1992
Development of the first wagons of their kind by Helmut Altmann (Hccrrs)
Innovation has always been a driving force at ARS Altmann AG. This manifested itself in 1992, when closed rail transport wagons tailored to the most important customer requirements.
Founding of subsidiaries in Poland and the Czech Republic
First step in internationalization: Our group of companies grows in Poland and the Czech Republic after the fall of the Iron Curtain. curtain in Poland and the Czech Republic.
2010
First Piadena PV system
Pioneering role in sustainability: First photovoltaic system installed at an ARS Altmann AG base in Piadena.
Protection against hail and storms in northern Italy, as well as generating electricity for the site: our PV systems in Piadena from day one.
2017
First operation of purely electric and LNG-powered trucks
We are the first company in the automotive logistics sector to adopt a 100 percent electrically powered truck into our fleet. The tractor unit comes from Terberg, the trailer from the company Rolfo.
2023
Foundation of ASIA S.r.l.
ARS Altmann AG and Gruppo Sapir S.p.A. are forming a joint venture to build a port in Ravenna (Italy). port-terminal with a reliable rail connection to the European vehiclemarkets.
Since 2024, we have also been operating in the Civitavecchia port terminal with CANADA S.r.l. The company was established as a joint venture with the Noord Natie Group.

Priority for rail
Shifting medium and long-haul logistics to rail as far as possible is an important component of our sustainable transport strategy. To this end, we are consistently expanding and modernizing our wagon fleet with double-decker wagons.
100 % electric truck
ARS Altmann AG is pursuing a consistent investment path in e-mobility. In 2025, new e-trucks from Mercedes-Benz and Designwerk were added, and in 2023 the world’s first fully electric standard Scania P 25 car transporter with a Kässbohrer body and trailer.
Photovoltaic systems
To protect against environmental influences, we have installed photovoltaic systems in the form of solar carports at various locations. At the same time, this enables us to produce environmentally friendly energy. We are currently continuously expanding our charging infrastructure.
Sustainable action
CO2 reduction and climate protection are fundamental goals for us. This means prioritizing rail transport for medium and long distances, expanding solar carports at our locations and a network for regional distribution with a mix of combustion engines, alternative fuels and electric trucks.
