Port terminal

Port terminals - your hub between sea and land

The two ARS Altmann AG terminals in Ravenna and Civitavecchia combine sea, rail and road in a continuous one-stop process: RoRo ships are unloaded within a few hours, vehicles are temporarily stored, technically prepared and then transported throughout Europe by rail or distributed regionally in Italy over the last mile by truck. Thanks to our own terminal companies – ASIA S.r.l. (Ravenna) and CANADA S.r.l. (Civitavecchia) – all processes remain in one hand and offer you maximum planning security and transparency.

Services

What we do for you at our ports

Unloading/loading & storage

RoRo ships are unloaded quickly, vehicles are stored temporarily and tracked seamlessly via yard management – so you can avoid demurrage and keep an eye on stocks at all times.

Customs & document service

Dedicated customs departments create export accompanying documents, manage temporary imports and complete import/export customs clearances directly in the terminal – fewer interfaces, faster approvals.

Intermodal onward transportation

Rail sidings and independent car trains connect the terminals with Central European bases on a daily basis. Where rail is not suitable, trucks from ARS Altmann AG take over onward transportation.

Vehicle process center

A vehicle processing center is being built in Ravenna, including a car wash and other services for new vehicles. Special charging facilities with renewable energy are provided for electric vehicles.

One-Spot-Solution Ravenna

In Ravenna, the joint venture ASIA S.r.l. was founded in 2023 as a cooperation between ARS Altmann and Gruppo Sapir to build a terminal for automotive logistics in the port of Ravenna. This terminal on the Trattaroli peninsula has been systematically expanded ever since. The Ravenna site is of particular strategic importance due to its location in Europe.

Strategic location

Civitavecchia as an important import bridge for Italy

We have been operating in the Civitavecchia port terminal with CANADA S.r.l. since 2024. The company was established as a joint venture with the Noord Natie Group. The most important focus is the volume of incoming finished vehicles for Italy. After unloading from the ship, our logistics process continues and involves our automotive hubs throughout the country.

Sustainability

Sustainable port operations - with foresight

Direct rail connection

Each train replaces up to 35 truck journeys from the port to the hinterland.

Shore power & LED lighting

Ships and terminal areas are supplied with renewable electricity, diesel generators are not used.

Solar panels on warehouses

Cover up to 60 % of the terminal’s own electricity requirements.

Water saving

Vehicle washes are carried out in a resource-saving manner. Thanks to modern washing systems, water consumption can be significantly reduced.

ISO 14001 & 50001 certified

Environmental and energy management ensure continuous improvements.

Future expansion phases

More space, more capacity, more possibilities

Since the founding of the joint venture ASIA S.r.l. (2023), the Ravenna terminal has been continuously expanded: additional rail sidings and new RoRo ramps are gradually increasing handling capacity. At the same time, CANADA S.r.l. in Civitavecchia is planning to expand the warehouse and PDI zones. These investments ensure that our customers will continue to have reliable slots and sufficient buffer for growing vehicle volumes in the future. We are aiming for a total of 24,000 parking spaces at both terminals by 2028.
