Sustainable logistics development in Riedstadt

A good third of the innovative solar carports on the ARS Altmann AG site have already been installed: The next construction phase is now underway as outside temperatures slowly rise. At our site in Riedstadt-Goddelau, 79,000 square meters are being fitted with solar carports. A total of 4,200 parking spaces will be equipped with the enormous sum of 28,000 modules. This will enable an annual yield of 16 million kilowatt hours to be achieved in future, with part of this going towards a new charging network for e-trucks. The medium-term benefits for residents and the environment are obvious: less noise, reducedCO2and pollutant emissions.

Riedstadt is currently our largest solar carport project in Germany and therefore serves as a model,” says Dr. Maximilian Altmann, CEO of ARS Altmann AG. “We will use the energy generated to expand our fleet of e-trucks, among other things. The new plant makes a significant contribution to our sustainability goals of reducingCO2 emissions as much as possible for the benefit of the environment. I would also like to thank the municipality of Riedstadt for its trusting cooperation.”

Branch manager Christof Meichelbeck explains: “The focus is currently on making targeted progress with the construction work. The investments will further strengthen our mobility concept here on site.”

Riedstadt’s mayor Marcus Kretschmann is “totally enthusiastic about this project for sustainability” and says: “ARS Altmann’s investment in solar power is outstanding and exemplary. Riedstadt is thus developing more and more into an important location for future technologies. I would like to return the thanks for the trusting cooperation. The exchange has improved continuously, especially in recent years.”

Best possible control of the construction phases

ARS Altmann’s aim is to carry out the work as effectively as possible while minimizing the impact on local residents. This also applies to construction-intensive phases, which should be managed in the best possible way. The current plan is to realize the route from the ARS site to the transformer station, probably in April or May. The cables will be laid in the sidewalk from Stahlbaustraße via Am Alten Grenzstein, crossing Römerstraße. The access roads to the properties will be restored immediately on the same day, while the thoroughfare will be closed for around two to three days. The daycare center is not affected by the disruptions. Overall, the impact on citizens is thus kept as low as possible.

Additional e-trucks planned for local transport – second rail ramp strengthens rail transport

As soon as everything is completed, an annual yield of 16 million kilowatt hours can be achieved in future thanks to 28,000 solar modules. For comparison: this amount of energy corresponds to the annual consumption of 4,000 four-person households.

ARS Altmann AG is using the electricity generated for the transformation towards electromobility: in future, customer vehicles, buses and electric trucks will be charged using state-of-the-art charging technology. Residents will also benefit from the current investment and the preference for environmentally friendly drive systems, as noise andCO2 pollution will decrease in the future. ARS Altmann AG is planning to deploy more modern e-trucks on selected local transport routes.

The ARS mobility concept is based on rail, center and road, with preference given to rail for long-distance transport. The use of a second rail ramp – in operation since 2024 – also demonstrates this in Riedstadt. In the long term, truck traffic should be further reduced in line with the sustainability strategy if customers can access greater capacity for vehicle delivery by rail.

ARS Altmann AG makes targeted investments in Riedstadt. This includes the new car wash, including biological waste water treatment, which reduces the consumption of resources. Water recovery of up to 70 percent can be achieved, while wastewater is also reduced by up to 70 percent.

The solar carports fit into this picture of environmentally friendly transformation. Some of the energy generated will flow into the power grid. The new solar carports have an additional benefit for ARS Altmann AG, as they also protect the vehicles on site from hail, snow and overheating.
